Chutel lives in Johannesburg where she covers news from all over south Africa. After earning a degree in journalism from Columbia University, and producing at the South African 24-hour news channel ENCA, Chutel came to work as a journalist at quartz.

- Tone- Chutel uses a mixture of a benevolent and candid tone when writing her articles. She keeps her opinion out of her writing and instead offers just straight facts and truths. Chutel however offers a sympathetic notion in the subject of her writing because of her attachment to the topics she writes about.
